UAE
For corporate desktop and monitor buyback in the UAE, prepare separate serial-numbered inventories for computers, displays and accessories. Record processor, RAM, storage, screen condition and missing stands or cables. Treat data-bearing desktops and all-in-ones differently from ordinary monitors, agree on verified sanitisation and custody evidence, and request itemised valuation and recycling terms before collection.
When a UAE office closes a floor, replaces workstations or consolidates branches, the retired inventory is rarely just laptops. Desktops, mini PCs, all-in-ones, monitors, docking stations and cables may be mixed across rooms and cost centres. A credible buyback or ITAD quote requires more than a total item count. This guide shows procurement, finance and IT teams how to build an auditable inventory, separate resale value from disposal obligations and document data-bearing assets before they leave the premises.
Desktop PCs and all-in-ones can contain storage media and corporate information. Conventional monitors are primarily displays, but some smart displays and conferencing units may store settings, credentials or other data. Classify equipment by function and data risk rather than assuming every item is the same. Each line should have an asset tag, manufacturer serial number, model, location and owner or department.
Record whether a monitor has its stand, power adapter and relevant video cables. For desktops, list CPU, RAM, SSD or HDD, graphics configuration, operating system and boot condition. For all-in-ones, include screen size and whether the display, touch and integrated camera work. These details let a buyer assess resale potential and plan handling without promising a particular offer.
One supplier may call a monitor working if it powers on, while another may require a clean image at native resolution with no visible dead pixels. Define your own acceptance criteria in the RFQ. For desktops, test power-on, ports, fans, storage health and display output. For monitors, check brightness, colour, image stability, inputs and physical cracks. Document defects with photos and note whether accessories are missing.
Do not combine all items into a single price per unit unless the buyer explains the allocation. An itemised schedule makes it easier to compare a reusable desktop with an end-of-life monitor that may need paid recycling. Ask whether damaged units are excluded, assigned a separate value or charged for treatment.
NIST SP 800-88 Revision 2, published in September 2025, provides guidance for building a media-sanitisation program. It is not a vendor certification issued by NIST. Choose an appropriate treatment based on media type and data sensitivity, document verification and retain evidence. A Windows factory reset alone is not a universal proof of approved sanitisation, especially where drives are inaccessible or defective.
Microsoft advises deregistering Windows Autopilot devices when they permanently leave an organisation. Coordinate with the authorised IT team to remove appropriate Intune and other management assignments, BIOS restrictions and asset records. Never hand over recovery keys or corporate passwords casually. A buyer's ability to boot the computer does not demonstrate that data has been securely treated.
Before pickup, agree on the collection location, packing method, access restrictions, vehicle and team identification, loading responsibility and handover signature. A signed manifest should state the count by category and list exceptions found at collection. For a multi-site company in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, use a site-specific manifest and a consolidated final reconciliation.
Photograph pallets or grouped equipment where practical, but protect confidential labels and customer information. Do not leave storage media unattended or rely solely on a verbal promise that the supplier will erase it later. If data-bearing equipment must leave before treatment, require a custody and security procedure acceptable to your organisation.
Not every item is economically reusable. A working business desktop may have recoverable value, while an old monitor with a damaged panel may require responsible material recovery. Ask the provider to identify which assets are proposed for reuse, repair, parts recovery or recycling, and what documentary evidence is actually included. Avoid assuming that every vendor has a certified downstream processor or that a zero-landfill outcome is guaranteed.
Rekart provides a public IT asset disposition enquiry and a separate electronics recycling enquiry. Before engaging, obtain a written scope and independently verify any claimed certificates, subcontractors, data-treatment methods and environmental reporting. Standards references should describe methods rather than imply an unsupported NIST vendor accreditation.
Send an authorised inventory with quantities, condition and storage details, plus the desired collection window and security requirements. Ask bidders to quote separate purchase value, logistics, data sanitisation, destruction, recycling and taxes where applicable. State when inspection adjustments may occur, who approves them, how rejected items are returned and when settlement or credit is due.
Finance should reconcile the signed pickup manifest to the final asset report and settlement statement. IT should reconcile media outcomes and management release. Procurement should retain the contract and any independently verified environmental evidence. This separation of duties makes a mixed desktop-and-monitor project more defensible than a one-line 'we collected everything' receipt.
A provider may assess mixed lots, but acceptance and valuation depend on its scope. Request separate itemised values for computers, displays and accessories.
Ordinary monitors usually are not equivalent to storage-bearing computers, but smart displays may retain settings or data. Classify the exact model and apply appropriate handling.
Provide model, serial, CPU, RAM, storage type and capacity, working status and included accessories. An asset-tagged inventory and photos improve quote accuracy.
Not universally. Use an approved media-sanitisation process with verification and documentation appropriate to the drive and data sensitivity.
No. SP 800-88 Revision 2 is published guidance, not a NIST-issued vendor certification. Independently verify a provider's actual qualifications and evidence.
They require a documented treatment or exception appropriate to the storage media. A failed boot does not prove that sensitive data is inaccessible or erased.
Rekart has public business and ITAD enquiry pages, but exact acceptance, collection and treatment terms need confirmation. Submit a serial-numbered inventory and request a written proposal.
For a mixed office fleet, send the inventory through Rekart's corporate device buyback and ITAD enquiry and confirm scope, evidence and commercial terms in writing.
